window hive box assembly instructions
We offer hives both assembled and unassembled at a lower cost. For those who choose unassembled, step by step instructions are provided below.

Obtain the following components from your shipping box. It will help if you have a wall behind your bench. You will require a drill/driver with a |

Place the rear wall with the top bar notches facing down and butted up against a wall or lip on the bench as shown. Apply glue to the side board as shown. |

Flip up the side board and install a 2.5" screw in the top hole. Ensure the height of both boards are aligned properly and the end board is properly seated in the undercut of the side board. Apply pressure to each board while installing the screw to prevent the boards from shifting. Next install the middle and bottom screws while pressing on the end board to straighten out any curve that may be present . |

Reposition as shown and apply glue to the undercut of the 2nd side board. |

Flip up the side board and install a 2.5" screw while taking the same alignment precautions as the first side. |

Flip the box as shown. Apply top pressure while installing a 2.5" screw in the middle and bottom hole. |

Reposition as shown. Obtain the upper window side end board. Apply glue to the top side of the end board and the notch of the box side board that is resting on the table (the length of the end board) |

Line up the top of the end board with the edge of the side boards. Install two 2.5" screws while pressing down firmly with your hand to prevent shifting. Then flip and repeat for the other side |

Now remove the protective film from the window and slide the window into the notch of the upper end board. |

obtain the lower end board, apply glue sparingly to both ends and slide it into the slot and align with the bottom of the box sides. |

Set the window shutter in place and verify that there is enough of a gap that the shutter can be easily removed. If it is tight, the lower end board can be shifted down slightly. |

Now install two 2.5" screws in each side of the lower end board. |
|
Now install six 7/16" screws into the window as shown. Be careful not to over tighten. |

Now install the window latch into the lower end board with a 1.25" screw. |
|
For installing the handles, measure 1-5/8" from the front edge of the side board and make a small pencil mark. |
|
Then measure 3-1/4" from the top of the side board near the front and another near the back and make a small pencil mark. |
|
Locate the handle with the tapered side on the top side of the box. Install with two 1.5" screws. Glue can also be used for extra strength if you do not desire to remove the handles for winter insulation wrapping. Repeat the above 2 steps for the opposite side. The box is now complete |
